FixTDSS Tool.

 

FixTDSS is designed to remove the infections of Backdoor.Tidserv and Tidserv variants.
Symantec  has developed this utility that allows removing rootkits and bootkits. A rootkit is a program or a program kit that hides the presence of malware in the system.A rootkit for Windows systems is a program that penetrates into the system and intercepts the system functions. It can effectively hide its presence by intercepting and modifying low-level API(application programming interface) functions. Moreover it can hide the presence of particular processes, folders, files and registry keys. Some rootkits install its own drivers and services in the system .  

The tool supports 32-bit and 64-bit operation systems.
The tool can be run in Normal Mode and Safe Mode.
How to Run FixTDSS.


  1. Download the FixTDSS.exe file from Symantec Website.
  2. Save the file to a convenient location, such as your Windows desktop.
  3. Close all running programs.
  4. If you are running Windows XP, turn off System Restore.
  5. Locate the file that you just downloaded.
  6. Double-click the FixTDSS.exe file to start the removal tool.
  7. Click Start to begin the process, and then allow the tool to run.
  8. Restart the computer when prompted by the tool.
  9. After the computer has started, the tool will inform you of the state of infection.
  10. If you are running Windows XP, re-enable System Restore.     


After removing all infected files, restart your computer and the issue will be fixed. And don’t forget to do update your Security Software, check the Firewall Settings and the Operating System and finally do a full system scan with the Security Software.

    PLEASE HELP.
    I unfortunately downloaded and ran FixTDSS.exe on my Windows7, 64 bit laptop.
    It seemed to run okay & after re-booting asked me about fixing my NBR.
    I stupidly clicked yes. It told me it worked, so I re-booted. It couldn't reboot.
    I have run the Windows7 startup recovery from my hard drive & my Windows7 install DVD.
    No luck.
    Anyone have any thoughts on how I can get Windows7 to work again?

    I ran the program to stop the annoying "Google" redirect. Aside from that, my laptop has had no problems until I ran d FixTDSS.exe.
