1. Bagle
Bagle was a virus infection detected in 2004. It spread and infected users through an email attachment. When infected with this virus, it opened a backdoor where a remote user could gain access and control the infected PC. It could either spy or steal information from the user.

2. Melissa
Melissa virus hit in 1999 created with a BASIC program. The Melissa virus was a mass-mailing malware. Melissa virus is still considered as one of the biggest hit since it was found to have infected up to 20 percent of computers worldwide. This virus spreads via email with the document “Here is that document you asked for, do not show it to anybodey else”

3. Sasser
Sasser stands third though it was not so familiar as the other ones because of its creator Sven Jaschan who was a German student who was only 17 year old then in 2004. Sasser attacked the then Microsoft Windows Server versions like Windows 2000 Server. Sasser does not spread via email. The virus is usually spread
through the network.

4. ILOVEYOU or Love letter Virus
ILOVEYOU virus spread via email, and is still considered as the virus infection that created an awareness for computer users about virus infections. It spread through e-mails with the subject “ love letters” from “ secret admirer” . When a user received and opened the email containing the attachment “LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.txt.vbs”,the computer became automatically infected.

5. Code Red
Code Red Virus infections hit in the summer of 2001 right after the ILOVEYOU virus.Code red virus attacks only Windows 2000 & NT OS. This virus infects the computer and makes the buffer full, thereby making the computer slow. And it would also open up webpages with the content “Welcome to http://www.worm.com! Hacked by Chinese!” This infection owns the fame of having infected the servers of the White House.
