Windows Scan is another fake disk defragmenter from the bunch of Defraggers.
These parasites change names daily, but does not change much else. The main goal of Windows Scan and other rogue programs is gaining access to your credit card details. And charging it as much as possible. These programs are distributed by trojans in infected websites, and does not come with working PC scanning and repair engine as advertised. In fact, Windows Scan is scareware and infection itself, created to scare instead of performing useful tasks.First sign of Windows Scan infection is numerous system alerts after booting up. These alerts state, that your PC is in extremely bad condition: hard disk half-working, CPU and GPU overheating and so on.
If you press on one of these alerts, a main window of Windows Scan will launch and the scan will start. The scan detects exactly the same problems as the alerts state and Windows Scan will ask to pay for fixing these problems. I strongly suggest not paying for this parasite, as all these errors are result of malware activity rather than hardware malfunctions detected.
Removal:
Kill malicious Processes from Task Manager:
- <random>.exe
Location of the infection:
- %AppData%\\[random].exe
Registry Entries to be removed. (Take a backup of registry, before editing it)
- HKCU\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run “[random].exe”
- HKCU\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run “[random]”
Although it is possible to manually remove Windows Scan, such activity can permanently damage your system if any mistakes are made in the process, as advanced spyware parasites are able to automatically repair themselves if not completely removed. Thus, manual spyware removal is recommended for experienced users only, such as IT specialists or highly qualified system administrators. For other users, we recommend malware and spyware removal applications.
After removing all these files, restart your computer and the issue will be fixed. And don’t forget to do update your Security Software, check the Firewall Settings and the Operating System and finally do a full system scan with the Security Software.
