User Account Control is one of these programs that should be categorized as rogue anti-spywares designed for making the money.
To be more tricky, it uses the name of trustworthy feature that helps prevent malicious programs, also known as “malware,” from damaging a system. The real User Account Control stops the automatic installation of unauthorized applications and also prevents unintended changes to system settings. However, the main difference between fake and legitimate Windows feature, is that you will never be asked paying the money for User Account Control services or install something.
Just like many its forerunners, the fake User Account Control uses Trojan infections for its propagation and only because of them gets on board without any permission asked. The same Trojans are known to drop fake malware files on the infected computer and make configurations to launch User Account Control upon each system start. Then, after being installed, User Account Control scans infected computers for viruses with its fabricated system scanners. These scanners report infections people supposedly have and then offer “services” of malicious User Account Control for eliminating cyber threats.
There are a great number of fake system notifications, alerts and pop-up ads displayed also trying to push users into believing that their computers are infected. The truth is that in this way program tends to promote its “licensed” version which requires making a payment. All the parasites listed on User Account Control scan are non existent or the ones that are invented by Trojans. Remember that this program is a fake one and tries only to trick you by using a name of legitimate Windows feature. Ignore every suggestion of fake User Account Control and don’t get tricked into registering its licensed version. Additionally, get a good anti-spyware program and remove User Account Control rogueware. Removal:
Kill malicious Processes from Task Manager:
- services.exe
- LiveSS.exe
Location of the infection:
- %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\services.exe
- %UserProfile%\Application Data\User Account Control\unins000.exe
- %Program Files%\User Account Control\LiveSS.exe
Registry Entries to be removed. (Take a backup of registry, before editing it)
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent "URLSS[2.0.3.0]"
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center "AVPath" = "\\.\root\SecurityCenter:AntiVirusProduct.instanceGuid="{653E64F8-62B6-4F96-B22D-4FFC6E44130E}""
Although it is possible to manually remove fake User Account Control, such activity can permanently damage your system if any mistakes are made in the process, as advanced spyware parasites are able to automatically repair themselves if not completely removed. Thus, manual spyware removal is recommended for experienced users only, such as IT specialists or highly qualified system administrators. For other users, we recommend malware and spyware removal applications.
After removing all these files, restart your computer and the issue will be fixed. And don’t forget to do update your Security Software, check the Firewall Settings and the Operating System and finally do a full system scan with the Security Software.
