Virut is a virus that infects any executable files and screen savers that the user accesses.
Virut is a polymorphic file infector that targets .EXE and .SCR files. The parasite also opens a back door providing the attacker with unauthorized remote access to the compromised computer. The intruder can upload and run arbitrary files. Symptoms:
- There are no common symptoms associated with this threat. Alert notifications from installed Antivirus software may be the only symptom(s).
- Sometimes, it will cause web page redirection.
- Blue Screen of Death.
- Sometimes,it opens a back door to the hacker, who can steal information from the infected computer.
Removal:
Virut uses a number of methods in order to avoid detection and removal and thus can be very difficult to completely clean. Because of the aggressive nature of this malware, some infected files may become corrupted, to the point where they are not possible to repair or clean. In such cases certain files might have to be restored from a backup.Manual threat removal is recommended for experienced users only, such as IT specialists or highly qualified system administrators. For other users, we recommend malware and spyware removal applications.
